The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy

What is Maya Abdominal Massage?

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy (ATMAT) is based on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage. ATMAT is an external, non invasive manipulation that repositions internal organs that have shifted, thereby restricting the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi.

ATMAT addresses the position and health of the pelvic and abdominal organs. The work is best known for the correction of the prolapsed, fallen, or tilted uterus and for relief of many common digestive disorders.

ATMAT applies anatomy, physiology, herbology and naprapathy (study of the ligaments, joints and muscles) to the pelvic region. Dr. Rosita Arvigo, DN, developed these techniques after apprenticing with Don Elijio Panti, the last of the Traditional Maya Shaman in Central America, where she had lived for over 30 years. The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy combine modern science with traditional healing and wisdom to produce a holistic path to physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

ATMAT For Fertility Challenges

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy can be effective in helping women with fertility challenges achieve pregnancy. ATMAT can be used in conjunction with treatments such as acupuncture, IUI or IVF. The goal of ATMAT is to help the uterus regain her natural position and to cleanse her of old, stagnate blood. The result can be a uterus that is free of impinged Fallopian tubes, increased blood and lymph flow, better quality eggs, increased thickness in uterine lining, and a cervix that may be more receptive to implantation.

  • ATMAT should not be performed before ovulation while you are trying to actively conceive.

  • A 1- 3 month plan may be recommended.

  • For IUI and IVF clients, it is recommended (but not necessary) to receive ATMAT prior to stimulation, or during a break from taking stimulating drugs.

ATMAT For Pregnancy

Swedish, deep tissue, Quantum Touch Energy work and ATMAT for pregnancy combined. During the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, the lower abdomen is not worked on. Sessions are tailored to clients needs and concerns.

Take Care and beware:

This treatment is not recommended during menses, where an IUD is present, immediately after abdominal surgery, or where an active infection or cancer is present in the pelvic region. If an IUD is in place, I can perform most of the treatment- excluding the lower abdominal massage.

This treatment is not meant to replace a physician's visit or recommendations. i am a healthcare professional with extensive training in alternative healthcare techniques, but not an M.D.
